The Majority of June was spent in the Philippines, golfing, teaching, photographing and a tiny bit of relaxing too! This was my 5th time in the Philippines and I'm still seeing new stuff on the dives here. June started with a touch of a sore head following our welcome party at the world famous Point Bar at Asia Divers, Puerto Galera.  We had arranged to play golf later that morning so we had a quick breakfast followed by lots of water and headed down to Sabang 'town' to hire our Motorbikes, 250cc Honda trails bikes!

That just about wraps the month up, I headed over to Singapore for a few days and went shopping for some new camera equipment, Singapore is also teh head office for Scuba Diver Australasia. On the last Wednesday of the month, I headed over to the Philippines to meet up with Mike Veitch for our Photographic Workshop at Asia Divers in Peurto Gallera.

After all that excitement and travelling I headed back to my 'home' base in Sanur for a few days to get my clothes washed and catch up on some other bits and pieces before heading out to Gili Trewangen to look for Sea Turtles and take a look at the artificial reef project set-up by the Villa Ombak Diving Academy.

The next day we headed to the not so Secret Bay, for a few muck dives.  This bay used to be famous for its muck diving but sadly of late locals have started using dredging nets to catch prawns, clearing away the once abundant benthic critters.  It's still good though, we found many Pipefish, Cardinalfish - and in the seagrass lots of large seahorses, maybe a dozen of them!

The following day we headed out into Pemuteran Bay to Napoleon Reef.  There arent (m)any Napoleon Wrasse left here as the dynamite fisherman and fish collectors raided this small area a few years ago, but the good news is that since then the local community of Pemuteran has made its own 'police' to stop dynamite fishing and encourage sustainable fishing practices.
