October Print E-mail

In October Simon headed out to the Seychelles Islands to write and photograph a location piece for Asian Geographic and Scuba Diver Australasia, he was lucky enough to stay in some of the finest resorts in the world, go snorkelling with a Whale Shark off Mahe and explore an

A Giant Tortoise

The most impressive resort he visited was North Island Resort (www.north-island.com), with Giant Tortoises wandering the gassy paddock in the middle of the island and Sea Turtles laying their eggs on the beach at night it truly was a wonderful experience.

Upon returning from the Seychelles he continued his web development work on www.gilicat.com. Gilicat is a luxury boat transport between Bali, Lombok and Gili Trawangan.  My understanding is that it has the best safety features of any boat doing this route and is the only one operating a daily service weather permitting.  Many people who stay at the luxury resorts such as Vila Almerik and Vila Ombak will enjoy this luxury comfortable and most importantly fast service to Trawangan, even going by plane/car takes several hours, Gilicat gets you there in an hour from Padang Bai.

Competition Result Print E-mail

Simon was lucky(??) enough to win the 'Best of Show' in the inaugural ScubaDiver Australasia Photo Competition . His shot of a Cardinafish brooding eggs in it's mouth was shot in the Philippines.  He won a trip to the Solomon Islands with Bilikiki Cruises and a Radiator Wetsuit.

This is in addition to a trip for two to the Cayman Islands and a Scubapro regulator which he won earlier in the summer by placing 1st in the wide angle catergory of the Scuba Diving Photo Competiton.

July Print E-mail

July has been a fairly quiet month this year, with no diving and not so much photography. The early part of this month was spent designing this new look website, which is a vast improvement over the old one! The latter part of the month was spent organising my impending trip to Asia.  I have now added a guestbook feature too, please add your comments there!

The Story Behind...

Anthias Portrait These little 'goldfish' are always on the move, and very tough to shoot! It requires a lot of patience and pig-headedness to stay with one subject for the majority of your dive.  This was shot in the Northern Redsea and was one of about 50 images i took of these fish.

The Story Behind...

Hyla bifurca Sailing into the Atoll of To'au at dawn when the weather is flat calm is an absolute pleasure, I took this image as the sun was creeping over the horizon on one of the few occasions we saw another boat at this wonderful location.
